Bounded by the River Yamuna in the east, South Delhi is a posh district of Delhi with having highest number of millionaires in India. It shares its boundary with two key districts of State Haryana - Faridabad and Gurgaon to the Southeast and Southwest respectively. With having a population of 2,258,367 as per 2001 census data, South Delhi is a key district of Delhi that divided into three main subdivisions- Saket, Mehrauli and Hauz Khas. The district boasts of modern infrastructure, excellent service of water and electricity supply.
South Delhi is better known for its nightlife and lavishing lifestyle. The district is undoubtedly a perfect place for visitors as it has a number of finest hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, historical monuments, picnic spots, tourist spots, many shopping malls and entertainment zones. The historical signification of South Delhi can be noticed with the fact that out of the eleven historical cities of Delhi, four lies in this zone that includes Rai Pithora, Mehrauli, Hauz Khas and Tughlaqabad. Deer Park and Rose Garden in Hauz Khas and Asola Wildlife Sanctuary make it a green belt zone too.
For the shopping freaks, South Delhi is a heaven as there are a number of popular markets for people of all class and age. If you want branded attire then South Extension, Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar and Green Park markets are best ones. However, Sarojini Nagar market is quite famous among the youngsters especially the college students. This market allows youngsters to buy funky and elegant attires at reasonable price. Shahpur Jat is one of the best places for designer clothes. Here one will find many boutiques creating a replica of high-class designer suites, sarees and lenghas. Delhi Haat at INA is also a perfect place for tourists where colors of many cities of India can be seen.
