FARIDABAD
About the City: People, Culture and Demography
Faridabad is one of the main industrial cities
of Haryana and comes under the region of Delhi
& NCR. The city is bounded by Delhi on the north, Gurgaon
on the west and the parts of Uttar Pradesh on the east and south.
It is surrounded by river Yamuna in the east and the Aravalli hills
in south and west regions.Faridabad
was formed by Saikh Farid in 1607 A.D with the sole purpose of protecting
the highway that passed through the town. It was 15th August, 1979
that Faridabad became the 12th district of Haryana.
The district of Faridabad has been categorized into five divisions
viz. Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Palwal and Hodal. Faridabad has the advantage
of being situated in the proximity of the national capital, New
Delhi. Faridabad is rapidly growing in terms of economy, lifestyle,
business, industrialization, infrastructure, real estate, education
and health care.
Of late, Faridabad has been attracting tourists to the city's famous
Badkhal Lake, Aravalli Golf Club, Dabchick, Raja Nahar Singh Palace
and Suraj Kund Tourist Complex.
Faridabad is very similar to the rest of India with culture and tradition
depicting typical India style. People from all communities and castes
live together in peace and harmony. The prominent castes in Faridabad
are Jats and Gujars along with people from Uttar Pradesh and other
parts of Haryana. The growth and development in the city saw people
migrating from states like Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Uttar
Pradesh. Close proximity to Delhi gives a "Delhi touch" to the city
where the demography and culture is almost the same as that of Delhi.
Newly developed Faridabad or New Faridabad
is the most preferred destination for industries, IT companies, corporate
bodies and government departments. New Faridabad also has the potential
to develop itself as the modern city of India but it is behind the
pace as compared to other satellite cities of Delhi. But still there
are perceivable developments in the region with the growth of real
estate in Faridabad and Faridabad properties.
Economy of Faridabad
Economy of Faridabad has seen tremendous growth owing the establishment
of major industries and infrastructural developments. Faridabad contributes
to 51% of Haryana's revenue. Agriculture
has lost its ground because most the land in the region has been taken
up by builders for Real Estate developments. However, Anaaj Mandi
in Old Faridabad still has its own importance. Faridabad is known
for Heena production. Other manufacturing industries include motorcycles,
refrigerators, shoes and tyres.
Manufacturing divisions of major companies like Orient Fans, Central
Insecticides, Escorts limited, Yamaha Motors India Pvt. Ltd., Whirlpool
and JCB India are present in Faridabad.
