How to File an Online FIR in Delhi

India is progressing towards digitisation, it has become so much necessary to have some system in place for filing an electronic FIR / Police Report or a complaint online. Delhi Police website facilitates you to file First Information Report (FIR) online. Here are few citizen services for which report related to following concerns can be registered online.

Other than theft, here we have mentioned cases of lost of articles as well, it could be Documents or physical items like mobile phones or laptops. In case you have misplaced your wallet or some important documents such as  PAN Card, educational certificate, passport, debit or credit cards, you don’t have to worry because you can send missing cases to the Delhi Police online and get them found.

FIR (First Information Report) is a report written by a policeman in order to be told about the crime that has been committed. Under Section 154 of the Criminal Procedure Code of 1973, the procedure for filing an FIR is fixed. In addition, in order to file a complaint or an FIR in Delhi, an individual may has to visit the police station.

That said, it can only be charged for knowable crime when it comes to e-FIR. In such cases, without the need for a court order, police may also make the arrest. Following the complaint, after the magistrate’s permission, the complaint could later be escalated to an FIR. Nevertheless, some states or the union territories require both FIRs and complaints, But we will address the online police reporting process in Delhi in this article.

How to File an FIR online in Delhi?

1. Visit Delhi Police Website – here

2. Sign Up as New User in case you have not registered before else click Existing User.

3. After signing up, enter details like Name, Parentage, Gender, Address, Mobile No, Email Id, Police Station, District, Date of loss or theft,  name of place where item was lost or stolen in Delhi and and other description of the item or article.

4. Further check details like email id and Mobile phone no. for proper tracking and even take the printout if possible.
