The government of Delhi is getting ready to operate Mohalla buses to provide last-mile connections. Several buses serving various areas will depart every 7–15 minutes. Their mission is to help commuters get from the city’s tiny streets to the public transportation, metro, that runs along the city’s major thoroughfares. Mohalla buses won’t be the standard sky blue of Delhi’s other bus fleet.

Buses operated by Cluster, DTC currently come in orange, blue, green, and red. About 150 feeder buses from the metro will initially be operated by the government as mohalla buses. These metro feeder buses used to be white and green, but now they will be sky blue to match the rest of the Mohalla fleet. We only employ electric feeder buses. There are currently preparations being made to operate these buses on 53 routes, according to officials. The movement of large, standard buses causes congestion on some roadways.

The Mohalla bus service was a budgeted initiative of the Delhi government. They will be operated to provide direct access to the metro, as well as the city’s outlying neighbourhoods, small roads, and big colonies located along key thoroughfares. DTC will not run Mohalla bus system electric feeder buses. Similar to cluster buses, Dimts, a government-owned corporation in Delhi, will be responsible for their operation and maintenance. Mohalla Bus plans to add another 380 minibuses or feeder routes by the end of the year.

There will be 1,500 electric buses arriving in Delhi. As of the latter week of April, it will begin. Buses are standing by. It has also been inspected by DTC officials. They’ll be released to the public once some issues have been addressed.

The city of Delhi plans to construct a new bus terminal in the Kirari neighbourhood. Only electric buses will be serviced at this terminal. The planned depot, spread out across more than five acres, will have space for parking and charging more than 150 buses. The construction of the depot, according to officials, will begin this week. Parking for buses operating in the neighbourhood will be provided here. This is necessary for the efficient operation of electric buses.
