Picnic Spots in Delhi – Short Getaways

Delhi has many picnic spots where you can spend your whole day with full enjoyment along family members. Some of these places are very prominent which are known to everyone and some of the places might be like Cinema halls, Community Parks, Malls and even Markets. Let’s talk about each of these places in detail and know which suits you for a short outing.

1. Akshardham

For someone coming to Delhi, a must visit location. Very well developed and managed. Security is also of the highest levels here. You can’t take mobile phones with you in Akshardham. Even nice is the metro connectivity over here. Also, there is a large parking lot. Akshardham temple is so quiet, safe, lovely and well-kept. The presentation on the water Fountain show is really amazing. In the wall there are outstanding elegance, languages, customs and biodiversity of India.

2. Delhi Zoo

Delhi’s Zoo is better know as “Chidiya Ghar” in local hindi language, after Akshardham Delhi’s Zoo is the most visited place in Delhi for one day tour excursion. Tourist who visit from outside Delhi or even local residents of Delhi do prefer to visit here. Delhi Zoo’s site is green with plenty of trees. It’s a good time out of daily life in the city. Battery Operated Vehicles are suitable for young children and people with walking difficulties. Small kiosks are available on small distances for drinks and ice creams.  The price of the ticket is very competitive. It is recommended for young children and people who want to spend time with a lot of consistency.

3. Lal Qila

This place is totally Unmatched. One should visit this is place to have total fun with your loved one. At evening time, this place organises a light and sound show which is very mesmerising. It’s very convenient to use car rides to and from parking spaces if you have a elderly family member with you. Also, it a very important place in Indian history. Lal Quila also has a museum, which is dedicated to martyrs o Independence.

4. Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar is UNESCO’s  world heritage site. In reality, Qutub Minar is a monument that catches the eyes. The big minar is firmly standing on the ground hugging the sky. Qutub Minar is a beautifully preserved historical location which stunning piece of marvellous architecture. This place is clean and well kept. There are adequate rest rooms and water facilities over here. Best time to visit here is around Winter.

5. Children’s Park

Situated adjacent to India Gate, this park is built especially for children and has been a family-friendly entertainment destination for many a decades. The park features a variety of swings and is a special attraction for children. It has large well-maintained lawns that provide a pleasant sitting area for tourists. Children’s Park should visit at evening time to also see the stunning lighting at night.

6. Rail Museum

Rail Museum is a great place not only for kids but Adults too. Also, you do not need to be Rail enthusiast for visiting here because after your visit you are going to develop great interest in Railway as it explains about the history of trains, it has miniature models of many trains too. Also, there is a very popular toy train too and everyone (kids and adults) can take its ride. It is indeed a good place for spending your day.

7. Lotus Temple

Lotus Temple is a great place for worship, silent and quiet. The architectural design of it is very fantastic, very elegant and beautiful. It’s very quiet inside the temple and very good sitting and worshiping. The prayer hall is beautiful and open to all regardless of their religion. This place is basically to meditate very peacefully. The beautiful architecture of Delhi is a must visit in the city centre. One should must have a look at the museum that demonstrates the Bahai culture and lessons. It has green cover too, which uses recycled water to keep the gardens extremely clean and healthy.

8. Nehru Park

Nehru Park is one of the biggest and best-maintained public parks in New Delhi. Nehru Park is open every day of the week till 8pm. It is spread over 80 acres and has concrete pathways for you to get your jog on. You’ll also find two open air gyms and quite obviously, a whole lot of green space to stretch, exercise, and even play a game of cricket or football. So, if you’re looking for a lush space for a picnic plan or a morning stroll, it is a very good place to visit. Various Food fest are also organised here from time to time. People of all age group can enjoy here. It also has a rose garden.

9. Cinema Halls

Cinema Halls could be great source of entertainment when you want to spend 3-4 hours under a roof with latest movies to watch and that too with your favourite artists on big screen. There are many multiplexes and single screen cinema halls in Delhi. It has multiplex chains like PVR, Inox, Fun Cinemas etc.

10. Malls or Main Markets

Sometimes Shopping too can be a great stress reliever. Delhi has many famous malls as well some known famous markets, each specialises in selling something which is its unique selling proposition. Like if you want to buy latest, trendy and cheap clothes, Sarojini Nagar market, Dilli Haat is the perfect place for it and similarly If you want to buy latest premium clothing then markets like South Extension, Rajouri Garden, Karol Bagh is the place for you.
