Delhi Metro
museum is one of the most famous and known as South Asia’s first modern Metro Museum which showcases the Delhi Metro that has been inaugurated in New Delhi. The museum is considered as the only such installation worldwide in well operational Metro station.

The Metro Museum located at Patel Chowk Metro station which has comes up as a wonderful New Year gift to the citizens of Delhi and displays the genesis, all the history and journey of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Country’s first modern public transportation system and inventive projects, the Delhi Metro has totally  revolutionized travel by offering a fast, most reliable, safe and quite comfortable means of transport in the city which has been characterized by rickety vehicles and well unreliable operators.

Though it is founded only in the year1995 with all the on-going commercial operations beginning on 25th December  in the year 2002, the DMRC has an extremely rich and varied history because of the nature of the project that is India’s largest urban intervention in the transportation sector since Independence. It has been built in one of the most congested cities in the whole world, the Delhi Metro used all the advanced and cutting edge technology from around the globe which includes Germany, France, Japan, Korea, etc. to make a system that is famous as one of the most advanced in the entire world. A loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) was funded as a major part of the construction work of the major projects at Delhi Metro as it is one of few Metros in the world that has an operational profit from its intial day.

Metro Museums can also be found in only a several European, US and all the Japanese cities, but the one at Delhi Metro is  considered as the only one of its kind in an working station set up in a extremely short duration of two months.

The museum has a massive collection of display panels which involves historical photographs and it also exhibits, traces the genesis of the Delhi Metro which usually took 32 years to reach the whole operational stage from the drawing boards, important milestones, several issues regarding the selection of the technology like rolling stock (trains), rail gauge, etc.

Museum has several displays on the unique management style and overall work culture of the DMRC that has assisted it complete projects all before time consistently, the value of spiritualism which is a perfectly guiding principle and the ‘Bhagavad Gita’ which well serve as an innovation for the Metro employees.
