Delhi Metro services will be available till 10 pm from all terminal stations of all lines (Red, Green, Yellow, Pink, Magenta, Orange, Violet) on the occasion of Diwali on Sunday.
The DMRC said that services will run as usual for rest of the day on Diwali from 6 am onwards on all lines and from 4:45 am on the Airport Express Line.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had decided to revise timings of the last train service on Diwali (23rd October 2014) to 10:00 PM from the earlier time of 8:00 PM. Thus continuing from year 2014, on Diwali the last Metro train service now starts at 10:00 PM from the terminal stations of all Metro Lines including Airport Express Line.
“The last Metro train will depart from terminal stations of Airport Express Line (which runs between New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21), Red Line (runs between Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda to Rithala), Violet Line (runs between Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh Ballabhgarh), Yellow Line (between Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre), Green Line (which runs beween Inderlok/Kirti Nagar to Brigadier Hoshiar Singh), Pink Line (runs between Majlis Park to Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 and Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake to Shiv Vihar) and Magenta Line (which runs between Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden) at 10 pm on October 27 instead of the usual time of 11 pm,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) published it on their official website.
Metro train services will run as usual for rest of the day on Diwali from 06:00 AM to 08:00 PM. From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the trains on all lines will however run with a frequency of about 30 minutes and thereafter, the last train service will be at 10:00 PM from terminal stations of all lines instead of the normal time of 11:00 PM.
In all previous years, the last Metro train services started at 8:00 PM from terminal stations but this year, DMRC has decided to keep the service open upto 10:00 PM and in case there is sufficient passenger movement during this extended period on Diwali tomorrow then the timings may continue to be extended in future years also on Diwali.
