Preet Vihar is a residential locality situated in East Delhi district. It is one of the most posh localities of east Delhi. Preet Vihar was developed along with other adjoining parts of this locality in late 1980s providing people with more land for habitation. It lies on the main Vikas Marg which intersects the Swami Dayanand Marg at Karkari Mor.
The neighbourhood of Preet Vihar includes Nirman Vihar to its southwest, Madhu Vihar and Patparganj area to its east. Within the subdivision of Preet Vihar, Nirman Vihar is also included. On the side facing Vikar Marg, the residential buildings have turned into commercial purposes.
Market and Commercial Establishments
You will find education centers such as NIIT and Inlingua, jewelry stores such as Tanishq and Kalyan Jewellers, banks such as ICICI, Federal Bank and PNB, banquet halls such as Jhankar, petrol pumps and other commercial stores. The office of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is also located here.
In the interiors, there are many schools and banks. Notable among these are Hillwoods Academy School, Ryan International School, Preet Public Senior Seconday School and Mother’s Global School. Indian Overseas Bank and HDFC Bank also have their branches here.
Besides banks and schools, there are quite a few temples and gurudwaras. The Jain and Madhuban temples in Nirman Vihar and the Gurudawara and Gufa Wala Shiv Mandir of Preet Vihar are notable among these. Gufa Wala Mandir attracts good number of visitors as this shiv temple has a small manmade cave which is an attraction for the kids and adults alike.
Preet Vihar is one of the most expensive residential and commercial locality in Delhi and commands high property prices and rentals as compared to other localities in east Delhi. It is home to many high ranking officials and businesspersons.
The Blue Line of Delhi Metro has two stations at Nirman Vihar and Preet Vihar. The Blue Line has been built as an elevated corridor on Vikas Marg and it stretches across whole of Vikas Marg and is further extended through Dayanand Vihar and Karkardooma to connect with Anand Vihar Station and ISBT.
