Bounded by the River Yamuna at the east, North Delhi is an administrative district that has divided into three subdivisions – Civil Lines, Sadar Bazar and Kotwali. With having an area of 59 sq. km, the district has a population of around 883,418 as per the data of 2011 census and that listed it in one of the most populated areas of Delhi. North Delhi mainly reflects mix culture of old and modern India can be seen in this district. With the Old Delhi areas close by, there is an unmistakable influence over the people living here. Areas like Model Town, Civil Lines and Ashok Vihar represent modern world.
North Delhi is also seen as the hub for education as this district has areas such as Mukherjee Nagar in its southern flanks which borders the North Campus of University of Delhi.
It is not wrong to say that North Delhi has the best transportation services as it has Delhi’s old Inter State Bus Terminal at Kashmiri Gate in proximity.

Suburbs of North Delhi
Narela, Bawana and Alipur areas define the northern most regions of this district and on the southeast, the areas like Azadpur, Mukherjee Nagar, Kingsway Camp and Model Town define its periphery.
Some parts of Burari, Karala and Rohini also fall under this district. North Delhi also has a vegetable and fruit mandi named ‘Azadpur Mandi’ considered as Asia’s largest wholesale market for fruits and vegetables. There are many eateries, lavishing restaurants and good schools in North Delhi.

Metro Connectivity
This district is perhaps the only one which is least served by Metro Rail.
Pink Line connects this district till or from Majilis Park Station whereas the Yellow Line goes till Samaypur Badli. The areas further north are largely untouched by Delhi Metro rail.
Highways
National Highway 44 runs through this district in north-south orientation connecting Delhi-Ambala-Ludhiana-Pathankot-Anantnag-Srinagar.
National Highway 9 also passes through this district from its southern part running east-west. This highway passes through Pithoragarh in Uttaranchal through Rampur- Moradabad-Amroha-Gajraula-Hapur-Ghaziabad-Delhi-Rohtak-Hissar-Fatehabad-Sirsa-Mandi Dabwali.
Urban Facilities
This district has Census villages in areas of Alipur, Model Town and Narela. However, even these are well developed with well laid-out roads, schools, hospitals, shopping markets and other urbane facilities readily available. Schools from primary to higher secondary, colleges of the nearby North Campus area, hospitals of all levels (from primary dispensaries to multi-specialty), markets, petrol stations, and other urban amenities are readily available. Road-based connectivity with buses are primary means of public transportation and these are well connected to rest of the city.
A number of eating outlets are also dotted along the national and state highways passing through this district.
