Greater Kailash is one of the posh localities of Delhi where who’s who of Delhi live. It is located on the hilly terrain and is one of the most expensive real estate places in Delhi. Greater Kailash is divided in to two parts- Greater Kailash 1 and Greater Kailash 2. The two most famous markets of these area are popularly called as M-block and N-block markets.
Spatially, GK is flanked by Kailash Colony and Nehru Place on east and Panchsheel Enclave on south-west.
Greater Kailash Market (G K 1 and G K 2)
Greater Kailash Part I was developed in 1960s by DLF after the government allowed private enterprises to develop colonies. The famous M and N block markets are located in GK I. These are home to plush shop selling high value products, be it designer branded garments, shoes, accessories, consumer electronics, home furnishings and many others. Giovanni, Puma, Nike, UCB, CCD, Lacoste are some popular brands having stores here. A number of popular eating joints also make it quite a buzzing market all through the day and till late evening. This locality is home to many famous business persons, industrialists and politicians.
Greater Kailash II is also a top residential locality with each pocket having a local market. However, the M Block market of this locality is the most famous. A number of beauty salons, sanitary ware shops, restaurants, lifestyle products, banks and apparel and accessories shops also make this very famous.
Educational Facilities
Both these residential localities have schools and other educational institutions, such as Don Bosco, Summer Fields and Balwant Rai Mehta school and others.
Hospitals
Fortis, Apollo, Phoenix and Bharti Eye Hospitals are some of healthcare centers here or around, besides many private clinics of doctors.
Metro Connectivity
The Kailash Colony Station of Violet Line lies on the north-eastern periphery of the GK area. Another line, Magenta Line, passes through Greater Kailash in east-west orientation and has station at Greater Kailash.
