Delhi Metro: You may now conveniently use your bank’s debit or credit card to pay for your metro fare. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is installing the most modern automatic fare machines for this.

If you also use the Delhi Metro, there is good news for you regarding employment. It will now be simpler than ever to use the metro. You won’t need a token or a rechargeable smartcard any more to use the subway. With your bank’s debit or credit card, you may now effortlessly pay the metro fare for your trip. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is installing the most modern automatic fare machines for this.

AFC opening at 44 Station

Apart from smart cards, you will be able to pay for metro fares under this new regulation using debit and credit cards, Near Field Communication (NFC), mobile devices that use QR codes for ticketing, and paper QR tickets. During the fourth phase, the DMRC has begun building the Automatic Fare Collection, or AFC, system at 44 stations. Thus, you will soon have access to this function. AFC gates already in place at the current station will also get updates.

Cardless entry is open at Airport Line

The new approach would promote more service digitalization in addition to cashless and error-free transactions, according to a DMRC representative. The AFC firmware is also being updated by Metro Corporation. Passengers will be able to utilise this to use their debit or credit card as a smart card. Only the capital’s Airport Express Line now has this feature.

All types of bank cards are accepted

Let us inform you that certain major cities, like Kochi and Nagpur, currently provide this opportunity. However, only debit and credit cards from certain banks are accepted here. Through the RuPay portal, DMRC’s system will accept payments from all banks. More “fare zones” will be established in the metro network thanks to the new system.

Fare can be paid in these ways

1. Smart Card
2. Common Mobility Card for the Nation
3. NFC based on mobile (Near Field Communication Ticketing)
4. Mobile Tickets with QR Codes
5. Paper-based QR tickets

Now, the penalty will be taken off of the smart card

According to a DMRC spokesperson, this new system will also allow for smart card-based penalty deduction. Currently, a traveller must pay the increased charge while leaving. For this, the traveller has to go to the customer service window. Penalty payments are only accepted using smart cards under this new method.

Let us inform you that DMRC will also integrate Point of Sale (POS) terminal with ticketing machines in the customer service at Phase-I and II stations. This smart card also supports POS recharging.
