Delhi’s metro system is its lifeline, and its constant expansion speaks volumes about the city’s growth. Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) project is set to transform the capital’s connectivity even further. The project encompasses new lines and extensions to existing ones to improve connectivity within Delhi and its surrounding areas. Let’s delve into the key details of this ambitious undertaking, exploring its planned routes, anticipated timelines, and the latest updates.

Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro network is currently under construction, with certain sections already approved and others awaiting the green light.

Phase 4 at a Glance

The Delhi Metro Phase 4 project, encompassing 103.93 km across 6 lines, was finalized in July 2015. The Central Government initially approved the construction of 61.679 km, covering three priority corridors with 45 stations, in March 2019. Subsequently, the project’s length increased to 65.1 km in October 2020 with the extension of the Silver Line.

In March 2024, DMRC received approvals for two more corridors, spanning 20.76 km, bringing the total length of Phase 4 to 85.86 km.

  1. Line-10 (Golden Line Extension): Aerocity – Tughlakabad
    • Length: 23.622 km
    • Type: Elevated (4.279 km) & Underground (19.343 km)
    • Number of Stations: 16
    • Stations: Station Names: Delhi Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, Kishangarh, Chhatarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU, Neb Sarai, Saket G-Block, Ambedkar Nagar, Khanpur, Sangam Vihar – Tigri, Anandmayee Marg Junction, Tughlakabad Railway Colony and Tughlakabad

 

  1. Line-7 (Pink Line Extension): Mukundpur – Maujpur
    • Length: 12.558 km
    • Type: Elevated
    • Number of Stations: 10
    • Stations: Majlis Park, Burari Crossing, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur Village, Soorghat, Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur-Babarpur

 

  1. Line-8 (Magenta Line Extension): Janakpuri West – R.K. Ashram
    • Length: 28.92 km
    • Type: Elevated (21.18 km) & Underground (7.74 km)
    • Number of Stations: 22
    • Krishna Park Extn, Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi, Mangol Puri, West Enclave, Pushpanjali, Deepali Chowk, Pitampura, Prashant Vihar, North Pitampura, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa, Majlis Park, Azadpur, Ashok Vihar, Derawal Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, Pulbangash, Sadar Bazar, Nabi Karim and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg

  1. Line-11 (Green Line Extension): Inderlok – Indraprastha
    • Length: 12.58 km
    • Type: Underground (11.349 km) & Elevated (1.028 km)
    • Number of Stations: 10
    • Station: Inderlok, Dayabasti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi Railway Station, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate, IG Stadium and Indraprastha

 

Lines/Extensions Pending Approval

  • Line-1 (Red Line): Rithala – Narela (21.73 km)
  • Line-1 (Red Line Extension): Narela – Kundli (4.86 km)
  • Line-3 (Blue Line): Noida Sector-62 – Sahibabad (5.11 km)
  • Line-4 (Blue Line): Vaishali – Mohan Nagar (5.06 km)
