New Delhi Railway Station

The New Delhi Railway Station is considered as one of the busiest, and one of the largest stations in India. Every day New Delhi Railway station handles over 300 trains, from 18 platforms and 17 tracks. It is one of the major railheads of Northern Railways and connects Delhi with other parts of the country through many super fast and express trains along with few local trains. The station code of New Delhi Railway Station is NDLS and it is the main railway station of Delhi.

The New Delhi Railway Station is located at a strategic location in central Delhi just about 2 kms away from Connaught Place and East of Paharganj. The New Delhi Railway Station is also well connected with the NCR and it is about 19 kms from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and 31 kms from Gurgaon, Haryana. New Delhi Railway Station is also close to Kashmere Gate Inter State bus terminal, which links Delhi with many other states through regular bus service. The New Delhi railway station is one of the modernized stations of the country and provides computerized reservation facility and a tourist information center. The nearest airport to the New Delhi Railway Station is Indira Gandhi international Airport.

New Delhi Railway Station

New Delhi Railway Station also holds the record for the largest route interlocking system in the world. The Station is the point of origin for most eastbound and northbound trains. At the same time, several other important trains to other parts of the country originate or halt at this station. The station is the originating point of most super fast Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Trains that goes to the different Indian states.

The New Delhi Railway Station is well served by Delhi Metro, which has made it very comfortable and easy for people to reach the station from any part of Delhi and NCR. The station is served on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro.

The New Delhi railway station sees a daily traffic of about 360 000 passengers, and occupies a space of over 86 hectares of land. This station always remains occupied by thousands of people at any given point of time. The New Delhi Railway Station is well connected with pre-paid taxi stands and auto stands for the comfort of passesgers. The New Delhi Railway Station has several eating places within and outside the station where the passengers can sit and eat food at reasonable costs.
