Chattarpur Mandir in New Delhi

Chattarpur Mandir is located in the main Gurgaon-Mehrauli road at a close distance of about 4 km from Qutub Minar in New Delhi. This huge temple complex is built relatively recently and is devoted to goddess Durga. The Chattarpur temple is quite modern and impressive as far as its architecture in concerned. For the devotees of Goddess Durga, the Chattarpur temple in Delhi holds great significance. This temple is very popular amongst devotess who come from across the city to pay their homage. Most of the shrines within the temple complex are made of white marble.

The complex has a number of temples dedicated to other Gods and Goddesses, like Vishnu, Ganesha, Lakshmi and Shiva. Prayers and sermons in the temple are conducted 24 hours a day.

Chattarpur Temple at New Delhi

Though Chattarpur Temple remains crowded during most days of the year, but exceptional crowd of devotees are seen during Durga Puja and Navaratri. Moreover, during Navratris as many as 10 million people or more reaches here from far and wide with great devotion to take a glimpse of the deity, to pray, and to fulfill their wishes. This is the time of the year when special bus services are provided to the devotees to make it easy for them to reach Chattarpur Temple.

The Chattarpur temple is also known as Shree Adya Katyayani Shaktipeeth Mandir. As per Hindu customs, before entering the temple, it is mandatory to take off one's shoes and wash their hands and feet.

The Chattarpur temple complex has a Satsang hall with a seating capacity of a 1000 people, where devotees sit and listen to various religious talks being preached here. There is also a museum dedicated to the creator of the temple placed within the complex. The temple complex is spread over a large area with beautiful lawns and gardens, which is a great sight to see and admire.

There is a firm belief amongst devotees that tying a thread in the temple will fulfill their wishes and once the wish is fulfilled you must come back to the temple to untie the thread.

Being close to Gurgaon, which is just half an hour drive from here, the temple also attracts a large number of devotees from Gurgaon and other parts of Haryana.

In addition to being a religious place of worship, Chattartpur temple also plays a key role of being a place of interest in Delhi's tourism. Tourists, both domestic and international, in large numbers come to see the architectural marvel of Chattarpur temple. This is indeed one of the most visited places of attraction in the capital city.
