Metro feeder service starts rolling
7 November, 2007

Shastri Park Station Gets 12 Buses, 19 More Routes Soon

The much-awaited Delhi Metro feeder buses finally hit the roads on Monday as they plied on feeder routes catering to the Shastri Park metro station on Line 1.

"The average occupancy on Day 1 stood at about 20 persons per bus, with some buses ferrying over 30 persons and other less than 15. The response has been good as the buses ferried about 2,000 persons till 7.30 pm on 96 feeder trips," said Anuj Dayal. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)'s chief spokesperson.

The buses remained crowded from Shastri Park right up to Geeta Colony and Akshardham but were not getting the expected crowds from other more distant stops on Monday. "The buses are very comfortable as they are fan-cooled and have good seats too. And unlike the earlier feeders, they bring you straight to the metro station," said Rizwana, a commuter.

The 12-bus strong feeder fleet - which started operations at 10 am - ran at a frequency of 10 minutes on the assigned route between Shastri Park Metro station and Vasundhara Enclave and moved via Geeta Colony Road, Akshardham Temple, Noida Link Road, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Mayur Vihar Phase-1 Extn., Chilla Sarda Bangar and Dharamshila Cancer Hospital.
