Delhi Metro rated world-class by Global Accreditation Service
29th, April, 2007
The Delhi Metro has got the thumbs-up from a leading international
accreditation service that rated the network's performance as world-class.
A surveillance witness audit of Delhi Metro was recently conducted
by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), which said in
its report that DMRC's housekeeping and operational controls are
world-class.
The UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by
the government to assess, against international agreed standards,
organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and
calibration services.
"The fact that DMRC included occupational health and safety
in an integrated management system is particularly laudable,"
UKAS auditor Andrew Marlow said.
He said, "DMRC's effharvesting and energy saving are a model
for other big organisations to follow."
Commenting on the report, DMRC CPRO Anuj Dayal said, "It is
the management style which is unique. It is based on practical experience
and experiences of its leaders. The credit goes to the managing
director and entire DMRC team."
Dayal said due to DMRC's standards, countries like Pakistan, Syria,
Ireland, Sri Lanka and Vietnam have interacted with DMRC officials
for metro systems.
DMRC officials last month visited Lahore in Pakistan on the request
of authorities in that country to provide suggestions on establishing
a metro system there.
