As the Delhi government grapples with putting in place the infrastructure
for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the state’s Information
Technology (IT) department has swung into action to work on a plan
to link the city digitally during the Games. To set up a public
portal exclusively for the Commonwealth Games is one option that
the department is looking at.

It's a tough call. Will issues like the prohibitive cost of land
to build hotels in delhi, the drive to augment rooms for the Commonwealth
Games the high luxury taxes, not to mention the lack of buyers for
hotel plots get resolved before the tourists are here? It's a fairly
disastrous situation on hand in the run-up to the event.

Akshardham temple is finally ready to take off. The Delhi Development
Authority (DDA) on Thursday accepted the financial bid of a consortium

a Rs.550-crore package for the Commonwealth Games, the country is
all set to get a Rs.1,700-crore bonanza for the even from the government.

THE PLAN to refurbish the city stadia for the 2010 commonwealth
games will take off by June 2008.The central public works department
(CPWD) will receive Rs. 1000 crore from Sport Authority of India
to be spent on overhauling the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Indira
Gandhi Indoor (IGI) stadium, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium,
the swimming pool at Talkatora and the Karni Singh shooting range.
